Welcome, Walk to End Alzheimer’s participants! Whether you joined us for a few laps or several miles, sampled healthy snacks, or tried your hand at brain challenges, you’ve already taken meaningful steps for your brain health today. This post is here to help you keep that momentum going—with simple, research-backed tips to protect your memory, sharpen your focus, and support your brain for years to come.

Strong Body, Strong Brain

Physical activity is one of the best tools we have for brain health. Moving your body increases blood flow, delivers nutrients to your brain, and even encourages the growth of new brain cells.

How to Start:

  • Aim for 150 minutes per week of moderate activity, like brisk walking.

  • Add strength and balance training to protect your mobility and confidence.

  • Short breaks count! Even 10 minutes of movement can make a difference.

Nourish to Flourish

Healthy food fuels your brain and helps it function at its best. A diet full of whole foods and healthy fats can reduce inflammation and lower the risk of memory loss.

Brain-Friendly Tips:

  • Fill your plate with colorful fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains.

  • Choose healthy fats like olive oil, nuts, and fatty fish.

  • Limit processed foods and added sugar for long-term brain benefits.

  • Try brain-protective diets like the Mediterranean or MIND diet.

Exercise Your Mind

Your brain thrives on challenge and novelty! Activities that stretch your thinking help strengthen neural connections and support cognitive health.

Brain-Boosting Ideas:

  • Try puzzles, memory games, or strategy games.

  • Learn a new skill, hobby, or language.

  • Stay socially connected—conversations and relationships keep your mind active.

Keep the Momentum Going

The choices you made today—walking, eating nourishing foods, and challenging your mind—are powerful steps toward better brain health. Use the Brain Health Habit Tracker on the back of your event flyer to log your habits this week and celebrate your progress.
